WOMEN ADVANCING AFRICA FORUM 9 – 12 AUGUST 2017, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Women Advancing Africa is a new Pan-African flagship initiative four day conference hosted by the Graça Machel Trust to acknowledge and celebrate the critical role women play in shaping Africa’s development agenda and driving social and economic transformation.
The WAA Forum puts women at the centre stage of the continent’s economic liberation, by providing a highly visible platform to showcase African women’s leadership and concrete contributions towards building a stronger, more vibrant and equitable future for all Africans.
A plurality of financial institutions and systems (including alternate models) are developed, and they respond to the needs of diverse women in an inclusive manner to enable access to financial products and services as well as wealth creation
Women occupy management and leadership positions across sectors in the economy
Women (adults and youth) are financially savvy and have developed the capacity to engage in wealth creation
All public, private and non-governmental institutions demonstrate commitment to change by making pledges, which lead to broad impact
Dynamic networks are in place and they create a basis for generating opportunities for women to be supported and mentored
Social and digital media drives the visibility of the initiative and amplifies women’s voices
