About the movement

The Pan-African Adolescent Girls’ Movement ignites the power of young women to rewrite narratives, champion their rights, and create bold futures for themselves and their communities.

  • Eagles (10–17 years) – the core of the Movement, ready to soar.
  • Big Sisters (18–19 years) – guiding and uplifting the Eagles.
  • Nurturing Eagles (20–24 years) – mentoring Big Sisters while strengthening community nests.

Together, these young leaders create safe spaces, support one another, and inspire change in their communities.

Thematic areas

  • Leadership and role modelling – Girls learn from trailblazing women while building their own leadership skills.
  • Education – Advocating for access, retention, and transition to quality education for every girl.
  • Health – Equipping girls with accurate, age-appropriate information to make informed choices about their well-being.
  • Climate action and food security – Nurturing girls who are active in climate solutions and food systems.
  • Entrepreneurship – Teaching practical economic skills so girls can become innovators and wealth creators.

Our goal: 1 million adolescent girls, 18 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, one unstoppable movement by 2030.

Our unique approach

Through partnerships, mentorship, and advocacy, we are raising a generation of confident, visionary girls who will transform Africa.

Designed with girls themselves, ensuring their authentic voices shape the learning journey.

A cycle of peer support where Eagles, Big Sisters, and Nurturing Eagles uplift each other.

A mobile app offering access to Movement content, peer learning, and innovative resources.

Creating access for adolescent girls to influence community, national, regional, and global decisions.

In partnership with Skills Council of Canada, the MyKiota Skill-Up Hub makes our curriculum available online, connecting thousands of adolescent girls and young women with leadership and life skills across Africa and beyond.

Our Vision for Change

We believe Africa can only prosper when girls and women are included, heard and seen in key decision-making spaces. Our movement aims to create:

Girls who define their own paths and create positive change.

Young leaders shaping policies and social norms in their communities.

Peer networks that uplift and strengthen girls across borders.

More resources directed to adolescent girls’ rights movements, fuelling long-term progress.

By realising this vision, we unleash Africa’s boundless potential.
